Next year, it is set to host the 2018 Commonwealth Games. It will provide Queensland with an opportunity to achieve lasting economic benefits, injecting more than $2 billion into the state economy and supporting up to 30,000 jobs.
In addition, many upcoming Hollywood movies have been filmed here, including Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales; Thor: Ragnarok and Kong: Skull Island with Aquaman being the latest upcoming film to be shot.

Settlement information
Transportation
The Gold Coast has buses, trains and trams networks, along with some community transport to assist eligible residents. Translink and the Gold Coast City Council have more detailed information about the different public transport options. The Gold Coast tram system is called G:Link, with a journey planner on their website. It is recommended to buy a car to get around the Gold Coast.
Education
The Queensland state government has an online search available for the public and private schools in Gold Coast areas. More information about Universities, Technical and Further Education, Schools, English Language Schools and Vocational Education is also available on Study Gold Coast.
